How a bonus is built, example $450 job
Set as $400 target cost + $50 bonus pool, shared up front.
At $400, no callback: $400 now, $50 at day 30. Total $450.
At $360, no callback: the $40 saved splits, so $360 + $20 now, plus $50 at day 30. Total $430, and it cost less.
Callback in 30 days: you fix it, the $50 bonus is not paid.
The total never tops the budget, because the bonus was already inside it.
